Princes Diana

Princes_Diana

I've never been a big fan of the royals. I didn't have a problem with the monarchy, but was mostly interested in watching what kind of hat the Queen would be wearing. I was also always curious as to why Prince Phillip had to walk behind the Queen! But when Charles married Princess Di, I was hooked. I remember getting up in the middle of the night to watch the wedding on TV. It was all so beautiful! She was this shy, demure, soft spoken beauty and she was just intriguing. As she grew, and matured, and became more self assured, she just began to blossom. As a mother, you could just see that was the role she was most suited to. Those boys were adorable! As a maturing woman, the humanitarian in her became evident to all, and the world fell in love with her.

I can still remember sitting on the edge of my bed 10 years ago, getting ready to go somewhere when the news of her tragic death was announced. I was absolutely stunned! I felt like I had known her, and it was just the saddest thing ever, to think of those boys of hers having to grow up without their beloved mother. It's a true tribute to her, to hear her grown sons, now men, speaking now of the wonderful woman who was their mother.

Christmas Anyone?

I hate the fact that halfway through the summer, the Halloween candy comes out. Even before the back to school supplies. Then, by the first of November, the Christmas decorations will be all over, and for 2 months we'll have to be inundated by Christmas carols in the mall. So much so, that by Christmas time, you don't even enjoy what used to be such a special part of the season. Sarah is lucky this year, in that christmas gift ideas for her, are almost already taken care of, as she is giving most people wedding photos!

1980's

As I have lamented numerous times, and will continue to do so for quite some time, all our furniture is wearing out kind of all at the same time! It sucks! Our family room furniture is just worn out, and it was of good quality, but it's used all the time! The living room furniture is very dated! I revitalized the kitchen suite by recovering the chairs, but our dining room furniture, is the set that my in-laws bought us 25 years ago!

Happy Anniversary

I've mentioned before that I want to come up with something really cool for our anniversary after this one in December. In 2008, we will be celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary. Isn't that amazing?? It is to me! So between now and then, I'll be willing to take any and all suggestions for anniversary gifts!

Wet & Cold!

It's not an easy day for puppy training. It's cold and rainy, and the little puppies do not WANT to go out to pee in this lousy weather! It's actually been cold and dreary for quite a few days now. After all my bitching all summer about the heat, I'm not any happier with this latest turn of events either! It's supposed to finally turn around and get nice again, on Thursday, which is, of course, my first day back at work! I think it's time to look into caribbean cruises!

Strolling Along

Strolling Along

Sarah and Jay had registered for gifts at The Bay, and Home outfitters. They got quite a few nice gifts from their registry, including the set of luggage they had chosen. They were quite pleased about that!! When we went to buy Laura's wedding gift, we found out why so many people chose to just buy a gift of their own choosing! They didn't seem to have any of the items we were looking for! Grrr!

You Are What You Eat

Have you ever watched the show, "You Are What You Eat"? Gillian comes in and assesses peoples' diets and habits. Then she examines their tongues, and pushes on their stomachs. If that isn't enough, then she takes a stool sample and checks that out too. Ewwww! Finally she sends them for a colon cleanse before they start their new healthy diet. It's really too much information.

Big Screen

About 2 years ago, our big screen TV died, after MUCH use. Hubby was, of course very excited to go about the process of choosing a new one! The first choice he had to make, was did he want to go for the best lcd tv or for a plasma tv. He opted for the plasma.

The reason he made this choice, was because the salesman that he was talking to, indicted that if you are a sports lover (which we are), the plasma was the way to go. He stated that with a lcd screen, you sometimes have "trails" following the puck or the ball. Definitely not for us then!

The Rings

8V478194

This is a picture of Jay and Sarah's wedding rings. I really like them! Jay went to a jewelry store and picked Sarah's engagement ring out all on his own. Later they went back to buy the wedding bands, and Sarah hated the one that was part of her set, so they had one custom made for hers, because her ring has an irregular shape. Then Jay just picked one that appealed to him. I really prefer the white gold. My set has both yellow and white gold.

Teebo

Teebo

Look at this face!! You just want to squeeze him!! He's so sweet! It sounds stupid, but sometimes you really have to look to see which end is which!! ha! They are cute as can be. They follow me around all over! If I move, they're both right behind me. I'm so glad I took 2 of them. Wicket would have been lost without his brother! He goes outside, and the minute he's jumped outside, he looks behind him to make sure Teebo is coming. If he doesn't, he goes right back in the house. He also wants whatever Teebo has! Whether it's a blade of grass, a rawhide, or anything, he tries to steal it!

Training is going pretty good. I think our biggest issue will be the yipping. They were in a huge outdoor kennel with 35 boston terriers in about 20 small kennels. There was LOTS of barking! So I'm on these guys as soon as they start yapping. It's mostly when they're playing, or when they are chasing our cats around, and wanting them to play. Wicket will also bark when he can't steal whatever Teebo has. Hopefully I can stop it, cause there's nothing pleasant about barking dogs!

The Good Old Days

I grew up on a dairy farm. We had a 2 bedroom house, which meant my brother and I shared a bedroom. When I was about 7, Dad finished the basement and made me a bedroom downstairs. Mom wall papered it with ballerina (WTF.... should have been horses or puppies!) wallpaper, and got it all fixed up nice! Every night she'd tuck me in bed, and I'd be fine, but sometime, between the bedtime and morning, I'd end up back upstairs in my bunk beds! haha The things you remember!

What??

I've been surfing around tonight, because hubby is watching the Edmonton Eskimos football game, and I have zero interest in football. Sometimes I can surf for hours, and find nothing that interests me, or catches my attention, but tonight I'm surfing along and I find something I know nothing about!! I have no idea what it does either. Do you know what a plasma cutter is used for? What does it cut exactly?

Renos

When I was cleaning the bathroom upstairs, I realized just how badly it needs to be renovated! I would like to replace the light fixture, put in a pedestal sink, replace the shower door, and put new tiles in the shower. I'd like to put a bunch of different types of shower faucets in as well, as I think that must feel amazing!!

Hard To Believe

It's so hard to believe that they've already got back to school stuff out! It's still a month until school starts here. But even harder to believe is the fact that the Halloween merchandise has already hit the shelves! Before we blink it will be Christmas in the stores! I don't look forward to it yet! I purchase almost all of my gifts no matter what the occasion online, and I always check out the best source for online shopping coupons before I purchase.

I make my lists, and then I research prices and item availability, and then I always check out Coupon Chief to see which store has the best coupon offer.

A great example is Pet Food Direct. There are some great offers available. One coupon offers a 20% discount, which is substantial. Especially for us, with 4 cats in the house!

I also, always order all my contact lenses online, and Lens.com has some great coupons. I'll definitely be using that one, as I'm overdo for my checkup!

Photos

I currently have all the photos I took of Sarah's wedding, their honeymoon photos, theirs and Laura's slide shows, and many other photos on my hard drive. That is so stupid on my part! I seriously need to learn to back them up. I'm going to go download Swarm full featured so that I can rectify that problem.

Many years ago, I had all the data on my hard drive for a website I was making and sure enough my computer crashed and I lost it ALL! You'd think a disaster like that would teach me, but NO!

Selling Condos

sarahjay

We're all going to busy in Rosebud, attending Jay's little sister's wedding tomorrow. After that, Sarah has one more week to work there, and then she's coming back here to get her condo all organized for her new husband to move into. Good grief that girl will have some purging of the clothing in her future!! I think I may be volunteering to help her. Currently, Ben, Jess, and a buddy are renting Jay's condo. Jay will come back to the city in September to finish off his last year of university. Shortly after that, they will list both condos with their real estate agent, and sell them. Those 2 have made a LOT of money on their condos if the market holds!!

Skin Care

I have to admit I'm pretty lax about being consistent with a good skin care regime. Now that I'm getting older it would seem that I should be making it more of a priority! For those of you with great skin, what kind of products do you recommend? Do natural skin care products work better than the cheaper versions?

Baby Shower Decorations

I know where I'm going to order all the baby shower party supplies for my girlfriend, and co-worker' baby shower in October! She is due in the first week of September, so we'll have her shower near the end of October.

She is having a little boy, and she has decorated his room with a beautiful Winnie Pooh theme. I've already bought her a few things for the room.

As everyone knows Sarah and I did all the decorations for her wedding. It was an pink extravaganza! We ended up so pleased and proud of the work we had done. The community ladies that hosted her bridal shower even decorated in pink! So, I offered to do the decorating for this baby shower.I will for sure be using the Winnie the Pooh theme for our decorations! You can conveniently just order everything in a very reasonably priced kit as well! It comes with invitations, matching paper plates and cups, cutlery, table cover, banners and everything else you need!

Ben's Tattoo

Ben's Tatoo

People have been asking me about Ben's tattoo. He got it started over a year ago, and then about 6 months later he was able to afford to get him to finish it off. In case you can't tell by the photo, it's a koi fish, and covers the side of his leg from knee to ankle. Of course he wants to get more, but I'm hoping he doesn't go crazy overboard with more. He wants to get a black and grey portrait of my dad done from when he was in the navy, and wearing his sailor hat and uniform. Dad was only 17 when he enlisted. He wants this on one side of his back. Of course the grandparents were a wee bit shocked, and I just promptly told them to get over it, and be happy he was such a good kid!

I Needed This!

As most of you know, I recently did wedding slide shows, for my daughter's wedding 4 weeks ago, and for her sister-in-law's wedding which is this Saturday. We were in a total panic trying to organize and find a place to rent a projector! We did finally track one down to borrow, but only after a great deal of time was wasted. Las Vegas projector rental will next day ship one of their projectors right to you by Fed-ex from $99 plus shipping. They even offer 24 hour tech-support. That would have saved us a lot of unnecessary hassle at such a busy time!

Chef's Site

I've gotten incredibly lazy about cooking since we became emptynesters! As long as you have kids living at home, you feel the responsibility to "feed the family". Since they moved out, neither hubby or I feel that inclined to do much cooking. So today, I've been surfing around chefs site trying to get inspired to get back into the routine of cooking!!

What I found I was doing, was doing my weekly grocery shopping, as usual, but over-buying, and then we'd decide we'd go out for dinner, etc. and I'd end up wasting a lot of food. What I discovered, worked best was just to stop and shop each day after work for exactly what I needed to cook for dinner.

Things To Remember

1. Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.
2. If you had to identify, in one word, the reason why the human race has not achieved, and never will achieve, its full potential, that word would be "meetings."
3. There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."
4. People who want to share their religious views with you almost never want you to share yours with them.
5. You should not confuse your career with your life.
6. Nobody cares if you can't dance well. Just get up and dance.
7. Never lick a steak knife.
8. The most destructive force in the universe is gossip.
9. You will never find anybody who can give you a clear and compelling reason why we observe daylight savings time.
10. You should never say anything to a woman that even remotely suggests That you think she's pregnant unless you can see an actual baby emerging from her at that moment.
11. There comes a time when you should stop expecting other people to make a big deal about your birthday. That time is age eleven.
12. The one thing that unites all human beings, regardless of age, gender, religion, economic status or ethnic background, is that, deep down inside, we ALL believe that we are above average drivers.
13. A person, who is nice to you, but rude to the waiter, is not a nice person. (This is very important. Pay attention. It never fails.)
14. Your friends love you anyway.
15. Never be afraid to try something new. Remember that a lone amateur built the Ark. A large group of professionals built the Titanic. .
