Change Is On the Way!

So far Nick has been doing fairly well. We have been integrated into the regular grade 2 classroom 90% of the time. He's doing the work faster than most of the other kids. He's still complaining about it at times, wailing quite loudly, "I'm tired! I'm melting! Oh my GAWD! I'm Bleeding!" I'm thinking he watched The Pas*sion Of the Chr*ist this summer! hehehe He's so dramatic!

I'm thinking our new principal is going to cut out all wearing of jeans! Typically on Fridays, we wear jeans. Something was said about that yesterday, and she said, "We'll talk about that at the staff meeting." Which to me translates, "over my dead body!" I understand her point. She wants her staff to look professional, and lord knows that's really gone downhill over the years, but on the other hand, I spend a LOT of time, sitting on the floor with Nick, wrestling, getting spat on, working with very messy children, getting glue, paint, glitter, food, and miscellaneous foreign matter splattered upon my apparel. Not only that, I'm outside supervising at least 2 times during the day, and yesterday for example, we got a real torrential downpour! I was chasing this little grade one guy (who has been convinced for a year that the bell means.....run like your ass is on fire, in the opposite direction from the school!) through muck, and sand and such. My jeans were soggy about 6 inches up! I had sand splashed all over them, my Echo shoes were all wet and nasty, by the end of the day I had Tony's soup splashed on my brand new sweater, red "dust" from Nick's dry erasable pen, and I looked worse than them! I learned early last year that wearing skirts to work as I was commonly known to do was a no-go, as one day as I had to pick up a kicking, screaming, Nick, my skirt came with it! Mmmm how nice! Not a vision any young child needs to be scarred for life with!

So there has to be a "happy medium" here somewhere. I do not want to wreck all my good clothes, and I do not want to have to pay for the dry cleaning of all my good clothes every week. BUT since she pretty much regards us aides as second-class citizens in comparison to the teachers, I'm thinking we'll be able to dress "the part"!

She also informed me that the new male teacher and the grade 6 students would be doing the web page, so I guess I've been fired from my 4 year volunteer position for which I've hosted and paid for. She hasn't even looked at what's there, but the teacher has. He had just offered to do it, not knowing if there was one or not. He was quite embarrassed that he was going to be doing it now. Good! He said he would just be getting the grade sixes to type up pages and then save them as HTML files. Hmmmm that will be spanky! Right now I have the whole school logo as a splash page, then you go into the main index page which is Moveabletype so that I can very quickly put news and announcements up, and then it's got all the information about the school in the subsequent pages. I also have a huge gallery set up with albums for each grade, etc. It's a shame, if that's going to all go Pfffffffffft!
