Part of this story is sad, but part of it is pretty darn funny too. Smudge (my cat) wanted to go outside. Our cats are always tied because of a cat bi-law here, so I went out with him to tie him up. There was a robin sitting on the grass. I spotted it immediately, so I clapped my hands loudly and yelled, and the dumb ass just sat there, so Smudge went flying after him, and got him unfortunately. Sarah & I are yelling at the cat to let go of the bird, which he finally did, but it was too late. There were 2 or 3 other robins who sat out there chirping at us, and one of them kept SWOOPING at us while we collected the cat and took him back inside. Ever since it happened, the robins have been sitting on the fence chirping. I told Sarah it was going to be like Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds" (world's scariest movie ever IMO), only we'd be surrounded by robins instead of ravens and crows!
A couple hours later Smudge was bugging to go outside again, so I put him out, and he laid in his usual spot under the spruce tree. All seemed quiet and peaceful for a long time. All of a sudden I hear several robins having a cow out there, so I look out my window, and there are 3 robins on the lawn, and I'm thinking, "Run for your lives!! A killer cat lives here! Didn't you learn anything???" Upon a closer look, it seems that somehow they herded the cat onto the patio, and he was cowering under a chair! They must have swooped his furry ass! Hopefully they scared the shit out of him so he'll quit going after birds!!!
Today's painting consisted of applying the first coat of paint to the cupboards and drawers. It took me 4.5 hours, and I didn't even touch all the doors. I'm going to do the second coat of paint tomorrow on the same pieces I did today, and be completely finished with them, and then I'll have some room to work on those 22 damn doors! I'm thinking I'll paint the insides of the cupboard doors first, and then they'll be finished (no 2 coats of paint on them!) Pffft! Last, I'll do the fronts. Two coats and the middle section. When that's all completely dry, I'll do the 2 coats of trim on the doors (pastel sage). Then all I have to do is put together the cupboards.....all 264 SCREWS!

Good for the robins. I came down to a dead dormouse this morning :( Jack hasn't caught anything in years but has caught quite a few things recently - I'm thinking he's hijacking next doors younger cats for their prey. You really have to tie your cat up when he goes outside? Of course the downside to a cat flap is waking up to dead (and live) creatures of all descriptions. We had a recurring frog last summer - we considered putting it on a plane to Argentina!
