All the doors and door jams on the main floor have now been painted sugar cane, as well as the vanity in the bathroom between the kitchen and family room. It took about 10 years off the look of the house! But what a LOT of work! When I started this silly project yesterday in the 90 degree heat, I had NO idea that it would be such a time consuming project!! Story of my life!
Now all that's left (besides the obvious latest round of touch ups), is to paint the walls in the bathroom, and then to prime and paint the railing sugar cane as well. THAT people, will make the biggest difference of all. It's DARK wood and dated as hell! It's been the bane of my existance since I first looked at the house (saying to myself.....that's the first thing I'm changing! 10 years later....)
Pictures tomorrow! I promise!

The railing sounds like it's going to look really nice. Looking forward to seeing the pics!

I'd LOVE to paint out our dark railing, but Himself will have to die first, he won't hear of it. He did paint the spindles a brighter white however, and that has helped a little. I can't believe you are painting in this heat! Himself wants to paint the family room ceiling tomorrow while I'm at work, which means when I'm off on Wednesday he'll be wanting me to strip the wallpaper so he can paint the walls! BLECH!

I can't wait to see pictures! Sounds like a daylite & dark kind of facelift.
